On Hwy 12/Ashland City Highway there is a great gas station at the corner of Hwy 12 and Old Hickory Blvd. This has been one of my favorite little places to stop when on a road trip out in that direction. It is quaint, has a small restaurant, the staff is always fun and pleasant. They traditionally have the cheapest gas around. It is nestled in the hills just outside of Nashville, and along with their restaurant and gas station they have cute little items in their store. Sometimes I just like to go there to browse, get gas, a drink and be on my way.
Outside they have a little "quarter" horse that the kids can ride for a quarter. They also have really cool vehicles on their lawn: an old cop car, tractors and interesting people out on the porch. Depending upon the time of year an older gentleman who grew up just down the road will be on the porch playing his fiddle. It has a lot of character, good people and it is a wonderful taste of the community there.
Just for a something fun to see, which is just outside of town, make a stop and say "hi" to the friendly folks at Lewis's Market.
