May the Fourth Be With You.
I said this to Theresa, who I work with today, she half chuckled and didn't say much. A couple hours later I came across this cute picture depicting the statement. I sent it to Theresa and she burst out laughing, "I didn't get this until just now".
She didn't quite understand what I was trying to say with, "May the fourth be with you" until she got the visual clue, "May the force be with you".
Isn't funny how we can hear something and not quite put it together? It is interesting how we can say something and it can be taken completely wrong.
Thankfully, the people who I hold near and dear know me well enough when I do say something stupid, they know my heart is in a good place. I am no stranger from the "open mouth, insert foot" dilemma. Where I was raised to think before you speak, sometimes my mouth is faster than my brain is to stop me. I don't think I am alone on this situation. Unfortunately, there are some people out there who are not willing to take the two minutes to get the full story, but instead walk away with judgment.
One thing I have learned over time is that I have not been placed on this earth to judge others. No, I may not agree with what they do, what they say or what they wear. However, it is not my place to be racist, inconsiderate or judge another individual. Sometimes it is best to agree to disagree, and when that is done, I hope it is done out of respect for the other person. This is not always easy to do. Often emotions and frustrations come into play and will keep us from upholding any respect for another. We don't have to be perfect or the most understanding all of the time. Maintaining the open to door to freeing one from being judgmental is not always easy. However, as we walk this earth we all should know we are not perfect, we make mistakes and will do things others won't always agree with our words or actions. Yet, I hope you will take a moment to step back the next time you feel the urge to judge another, and remind yourself, it is not our place to judge others. We will all face a judgment day. When that day comes, the one who has the right to judge will take care of that role in our lives.
